Major project combines two schools under one roof

In the Bavarian university town of Freising, a new and modern school has been built for the 1,000+ pupils - the "Schulen am SteinPark Freising".

Sound-absorbing cement-bonded wood wool panels from Troldtekt are often used as acoustic ceilings in schools and educational institutions

With more than 50,000 inhabitants, the town of Freising, which is located about 30 kilometres from the state capital Munich and very close to the airport, is considered the youngest town in Bavaria, in terms of the age of its residents.

Because there are also many schoolchildren in Freising, the town has invested around EUR 74 million in a new and modern primary and secondary school, which meets the highest educational requirements.

New building with 44 classrooms and 20 specialist classrooms

Built on a 17,600 square metre plot, the partly five-storey building with around 23,500 square metres of gross floor area blends harmoniously into the neighbourhood. Despite its size and thanks to its varied façade design, featuring many windows, it is both inviting and appealing.

The primary school is spread over four storeys, and the secondary school over five storeys. The two schools are connected by a joint main entrance and a large aula. The schools also boast a triple-field sports hall, as well as generously and extensively designed outdoor areas, including open-air classrooms and a school garden.

In addition to the aula, the ground floor also houses the large canteen and school kitchen, as well as offices, whilst the 44 classrooms and 20 specialist classrooms are located on the upper storeys.

Bright and spacious design

Daylight floods in through the many windows, offering a view of the trees outside, as well as skylights in the roof. All hallways, communal areas and rooms are barrier-free and generously designed for flexible and interdisciplinary use.

Window frames and furniture made of pale wood combined with light-coloured floors create a pleasant atmosphere. To complement this, bright Troldtekt acoustic panels have been installed on the ceilings, ensuring optimal acoustics and consequently a relaxed learning environment for pupils and teaching staff.
