FSC®-certified acoustic panels

FSC® certification

Troldtekt is FSC®-certified. This means that we offer products that are manufactured using wood from responsible forestry which are certified in accordance with the FSC principles.

Troldtekt achieved FSC certification in 2013, and since 2018 has been approved to supply products in the ‘FSC 100%’ category (FSC®C115450), which means that all the wood in each single panel complies with the FSC requirements.

In adhering to the FSC certification scheme, Troldtekt wants to give its customers the greatest possible guarantee of sustainability. For example, FSC counts towards Cradle to Cradle, and earns credits towards voluntary certifications such as DGNB, LEED and BREEAM®.

In our production of Troldtekt acoustic panels, we use certified wood only. As a customer, you can choose whether you want your Troldtekt acoustic panels to be FSC or PEFC™-certified.

Certified wood - from forest to architecture

Sustainable building begins in the woods.

In this video, the director of FSC Denmark, Søren Dürr Grue, explains the requirements of an FSC®-certified forest for biodiversity.

You also experience how Troldtekt in its production of acoustic panels handles FSC certified wood, so that every wood fiber in a FSC-certified Troldtekt acoustic panel is guaranteed to come from FSC-certified forests.

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council®, an international non-profit labelling system for wood and paper which was established in 1994. The FSC system enjoys widespread support of green organisations such as the WWF and Greenpeace because FSC:

  • has national standards which are all based on ten global principles.
  • gives equal priority to social, environmental and economic interests in all its decision-making.
  • prohibits the destruction of forests or other natural habitats.
  • demands that the rights of indigenous peoples are respected.
  • places strict demands on the use of harmful pesticides.
  • prohibits the use of genetically modified trees (GMOs).
  • has an integrated accreditation system that systematically checks the certification bodies.
  • requires that a control visit is made to each certified forest once a year.

FSC builds on ten basic principles for responsible forest management. The principles serve as a constitution for FSC and applies to the management of FSC-certified forests worldwide. However, as not all forests are uniform and can thus not be managed identically, the national FSC offices build on the ten basic FSC principles when developing national forestry standards adapted to local conditions.

The ten principles:

  1. Compliance with Laws
  2. Workers’ Rights and Employment Conditions
  3. Indigenous Peoples’ Rights
  4. Community Relations
  5. Benefits from the Forest
  6. Environmental Values and Impacts
  7. Management Planning
  8. Monitoring and Assessment
  9. High Conservation Values
  10. Implementation of Management Activities

  • FSC ensures the greatest possible consideration for nature, animals and humans in forests.
  • The FSC logo guarantees that harvested trees are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally.
  • Parts of FSC forests are protected entirely in order to protect rare animals and plants.
  • FSC protects the rights of ingenious peoples such as Indians and Samians to use the forest as they have always done. For example, sacred sites and hunting areas are exempt from felling.
  • Local workers are trained and provided with safety equipment and a decent salary.
  • FSC gives an assurance that the local population is able to enjoy the benefits of the forest, and that local labour is used.
  • All the wood can be traced back to the forest. Every link between the forest and the consumer is certified – however long the chain.
  • FSC certification is a business from which you can earn a living – as a forest owner, worker and manufacturer. FSC ensures better conditions for the forest and the people whose livelihoods depend on it.
  • All types of forest can be FSC certified from Norwegian coniferous forests to tropical rainforests – and even plantations.
  • The FSC logo is found on all types of products which are made of wood fibre, e.g. floors, patios, paper, grilling charcoal, insulation, furniture, interiors, jewellery and packaging.
