FSC® certified acoustic panels

Troldtekt is FSC® certified. This means that we can offer products with wood from responsible forestry which are certified in line with FSC principles.

Troldtekt achieved FSC certification in 2013 and since 2018 has been authorised to offer products in the ‘FSC 100%’ category (FSC®C115450), which means that all the wood in each panel meets FSC requirements.

With FSC certification, Troldtekt wants to give our customers the greatest possible assurance of our contribution to sustainability. FSC counts positively towards Cradle to Cradle and contributes to points in voluntary building certifications such as ,DGNB, LEED and BREEAM®.

For the production of Troldtekt acoustic panels, we only use certified wood. This means that the finished panels are either PEFC or FSC certified.

Troldtekt® Inspiration: Certified wood – from forest to architecture

Wood construction with a lower carbon footprint begins in the forest.

In this video, Søren Dürr Grue, CEO at FSC Denmark, explains the requirements for FSC® forest certification in terms of biodiversity, among others.

In the video, you can also discover how Troldtekt handles FSC-certified wood in its production of acoustic panels to ensure that every wood fibre in an FSC-certified Troldtekt acoustic panel is guaranteed to come from FSC-certified forests.

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is an international non-profit labelling scheme for wood and paper, founded in 1994. The FSC scheme enjoys broad support from organisations such as the WWF and Greenpeace because FSC:

  • has national standards that are all based on ten global principles.
  • prioritises equally social, environmental and economic interests in all decision-making.
  • prohibits the conversion of forests or other natural habitats.
  • demands that the rights of indigenous peoples are respected.
  • imposes strict requirements on the use of harmful pesticides.
  • prohibits the use of genetically modified trees (GMOs).
  • has an integrated accreditation system that systematically checks the certification bodies.
  • requires an annual inspection visit to each certified forest.

FSC builds on ten basic principles for responsible forest management. The principles serve as a kind of constitution for FSC and apply to the management of FSC-certified forests worldwide. However, as not all forests are uniform and can thus not be managed identically, the national FSC offices build on the ten basic FSC principles when developing national forestry standards adapted to local conditions.

The ten principles are:

  1. Compliance with laws
  2. Workers’ rights and working conditions
  3. Indigenous peoples’ rights
  4. Community relations
  5. Forest services
  6. Environmental values and impacts
  7. Management planning
  8. Monitoring and assessment
  9. High conservation values
  10. Implementation of management activities

  • FSC ensures comprehensive care for nature, animals and people in the forests.
  • The FSC label guarantees that no more trees are felled than the forest can reproduce itself.
  • Parts of FSC forests are fully protected, as are areas with endangered animals and plants.
  • Indigenous populations, such as Native American and Sami people, are guaranteed their right to use the forest as they always have done. For example, sacred sites and hunting grounds are protected from felling.
  • Local workers are trained, provided with safety equipment and paid a decent salary.
  • The local population benefits from the income generated by the forest and local labour is used.
  • All wood can be traced back to the forest. All links in the chain between the forest and you are certified – no matter how many links there are.
  • FSC certification offers viable business opportunities – for forest owners, workers and manufacturers. As an added advantage, FSC ensures nature and people have better living conditions.
  • All forest types can be FSC-certified, from Nordic coniferous forests to tropical rainforests – including plantations.
  • The FSC logo is found on all types of products made of wood fibres, such as flooring, decks, paper, grilling charcoal, insulation, furniture, interiors, jewellery and packaging.
