New life for a country house

Many efforts and resources have been invested in the restoration of the abandoned country house near Vrå in Vendsyssel (Denmark). In return, the family now has a modern and personalised home.

Inspiration for acoustic solution with ceilings from Troldtekt in private home

The outer walls, floor structure and little else remained when Jeppe and Mia tackled the abandoned home, which needed more than just a coat of paint. The country house is in a scenic location but needed more than a loving hand. The roof and windows were replaced and a non-visible drain makes the basement usable. The home has three floors and the idea is that you eventually can enter via the lower floor where you can take off your wellies, give the dogs a bath and let the guests walk in the front door. One of the barns is also intended to be used for dog training. But first, the couple wanted to finish the home.

With their own hands

On the ground floor, the kitchen has been moved to a more ideal location and close to the new wooden terrace on the same level as the living room. In addition to new floors, doors and wall surfaces in most rooms, the family has had Troldtekt v-line panels installed on all ceilings. Jeppe and Mia already knew that this solution would provide good acoustics. Each Troldtekt v-line panel has a small v-shaped groove and when the panels are placed in a line it creates a very calm look.

Using the same ceiling solution in all rooms creates a sense of complete renewal and improvement. Jeppe installed the panels himself and found it easy, except for the exposed rafters on the upper floor, where it was a little more challenging. Mia chose the wall colours and the bathrooms became the most colourful rooms, which also works perfectly.
