The terrace house

The newly built house on the slope of Vejle Fjord (Denmark) has three storeys with a magnificent view of the open landscape by the fjord. Inside, the home is characterised by the elegant interplay of exciting materials.

The view served as a guide for the architecture, which was designed by a local architectural studio. From the front door, you look through the axis of the house and out to the horizon. On this floor, the living room and kitchen occupy a single space facing the water. The floor above is more private, comprising a bedroom and a large bathroom with direct access to another terrace.

The ground floor leads out to the grounds and terrace, where a pool is under construction. The staircase is like a steel sculpture that has its own lightness. Most of the kitchen is also made of steel, emphasising the austere style, where materials play an important role. The wide plank floors add warmth and texture to the house, as do the brick walls on the exterior.

Lines from indoors to outdoors

The axis through the house is emphasised by the Troldtekt ceiling lines pointing towards the fjord. Sisse Juul says that she loves the sound of Troldtekt, and this type with the lines was an obvious choice for the home. The black colour contrasts with the light from the waterside, while the light is reflected in the ceilings. The precise lines of Troldtekt line match the architecture of the house and create a homogeneous surface.

Troldtekt ceilings continue on the other side of the windows to the overhangs, elegantly connecting the interior and exterior. The overhangs provide shade to the home's living spaces, which get plenty of daylight from the large, south-facing windows.
