A wonderfully cosy space
The location was right, but the house was far too small for the family with three sons. After a remodelling and extension, the home was all set. Now, the family is enjoying both the house and its location.
The two-storey extension was a comprehensive project, as the house’s functions had to be reorganised. The original kitchen was converted into a bedroom, with the kitchen now in the new living area with views of the neighbourhood and the lake in the backyard.
The family TV room is located in the original house. Below the kitchen and living area are the three children’s bedrooms, all with access to the garden. From both the kitchen and the living area, you can walk directly out onto a wooden terrace, which actually contains several terraces on the way down to the garden. With the extension, the family has made the most of the garden and the view.
Wood as a recurring material
The new kitchen and living area were built with a vaulted ceiling, creating a natural sense of space. At the same time, there is daylight from the north, south and west. The large panoramic window overlooking the lake faces west. When choosing materials for the room, the family focused on natural and warm materials. The kitchen is made of solid oak and the worktops consist of beautiful marble that was specially selected.
Oak is a recurring material used in the kitchen, windows and flooring with solid oak planks. To ensure pleasant acoustics in the high-ceilinged living area, the ceiling is clad with Troldtekt v-line in natural wood. The lines follow the orientation of the room and the ceiling beam and give the room character, while the v-line solution provides a unifying, harmonious ceiling surface. The family is very happy with the pleasant acoustics and the look of the space.
