Dream house on a hillside

The black acoustic ceiling installed directly under the roof construction is particularly impressive in the modern private home of a young couple from Central Franconia.

A young couple in Reichenschwand is demonstrating how wonderful it is to literally build something together and turn their dream home into reality. On a roughly 912 square metre plot on a hillside, the couple in the small municipality in the central Franconian district of Nuremberg have created their very personal dream detached home – and carried out a large part of the work themselves.

Modern energy concept

The two-storey new build with cellar, with a light plastered aerated concrete façade and gabled roof, features a modern and sustainable energy concept, which includes a photovoltaic system, a heat pump, a hydro pellet stove and underfloor heating.

The spacious rooms, which the owners have fitted out with both parquet and tiles, are spread over a living area of 203 square metres.

Open plan living area with fantastic views

The absolute highlight of the house is the open and light-flooded living and kitchen area with high ceiling that reaches to directly under the roof. In addition to floor-to-ceiling windows on the sides, full floor-to-ceiling glazing on the gable side provides a fantastic view of the village from above.

In the centre of the room, the modern kitchen landscape is opposite the stove clad in large white panels. A freestanding unit with a stove and elegant, white marbled worktop is clad in light wood facing the living area. The slightly darker wood-look tiles create a beautiful contrast to the white walls and window frames, as well as the predominantly light furniture.

Dark ceiling adds a creative touch

The ceiling panels installed by the couple themselves provides strong design accent. Black acoustic panels with the V-Line design solution are used on the two sloping roofs, divided by the visible ridge. The decorative milled grooves, which look like continuous lines, define the character of the ceiling areas and give the room its own unique charm. The minimalist design concept is also emphasised by a suspended, circumferential light installation.
