Wooden house in Jelling
The newly built home on the outskirts of Jelling (Denmark) was built with a focus on the environment and good materials. The result is a beautiful home where the two clients will now move in together.
The development in Jelling offered a different kind of housing in terms of the environment. The neighbourhood has become somewhat varied with both wooden and grass-roofed terraced houses while there are also some traditional, large brick homes. The new wooden house has a traditional look in a simple elongated form with a garage at one end and a pitched roof. Conversely, its modest size and the carbon footprint of its material makes it very modern. The heat source is geothermal, which is the most obvious choice in this area.
Plenty of choice
The woman of the house has been meticulous in her search for climate-friendly solutions. The house is made of wood, both in its structure and on the facade. The insulation is made of wood fibre with a vapour barrier, which allows the house to breathe more freely compared to a traditional vapour barrier. Troldtekt based on FUTURECEM with a white-painted surface was used for the ceilings in all rooms, including the garage. It is one of the climate-friendly choices that the owners are very happy with. The acoustics are good and it suits the style of both the living room where there is a vaulted ceiling, and in the smaller rooms such as the bathroom and entrance hall. Troldtekt based on FUTURECEM is a conscious choice because it has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to Troldtekt based on white cement.
The couple explains that they have learnt a lot about climate-conscious choices in construction along the way. Now it’s time to tackle the new hedge and garden.
