Michelin: Stardust on restaurants with Troldtekt

16.09.2021

There were well-deserved awards for a number of world-class Danish restaurants when the Michelin Guide presented its Nordic stars for 2021. In addition to creating unique cuisine, several of the restaurants also stand out for enhancing the dining experience with stylish interiors and superior acoustics.

There was a palpable air of excitement at the Aarhus restaurant Substans when the Michelin stars for 2021 were announced on 13 September. Substans has previously had a star, but the restaurant lost it when it moved to new premises at Pakhusene in Aarhus Docklands. However, the hard work that went into reestablishing a restaurant at the highest level was rewarded with a ‘recaptured’ star.

Pakhusene is a DNGB-certified building, which means that sustainability and community have been key focus areas. Black-painted Troldtekt acoustic panels on the ceilings ensure outstanding acoustics and contribute to the special atmosphere in the restaurant. The black colour camouflages various installations and frames the high-ceilinged room, together with the curtains and beautiful floors.

Domestic in Aarhus regains its star

For the honoured restaurants, the Michelin stars were particularly needed this year after two very challenging years in the restaurant industry due to the corona pandemic. There was thus every reason to celebrate when Restaurant Domestic in Aarhus regained its Michelin star – and also achieved Michelin’s five-leaf green clover for its sustainable focus.

Restaurant Domestic lies in a charming backyard building in Mejlgade in central Aarhus, where Troldtekt helps to control the acoustics in the high-ceilinged room.

Two stars for Henne Kirkeby Kro

Henne Kirkeby Kro also regained its two Michelin stars at the awards ceremony. In addition to being a world-class restaurant, the inn also has rooms and suites with an adjoining breakfast restaurant called Staldgården, where Troldtekt plays a significant role in giving Henne Kirkeby Kro’s overnighting guests the best possible start to the day.

Praise for unique vegetarian restaurant on Djursland

It’s likely that restaurateurs Rikke and Morten Storm Overgaard dream of being awarded a Michelin star for their restaurant Moment on Djursland one day. However, for the time being, they can enjoy the fact that they have been awarded a ‘Bib Gourmand’ by Michelin – an award that is given to restaurants that offer great food at reasonable prices. At the same time, Moment has retained its five-leaf clover for sustainability.

At Restaurant Moment, which is located in a sustainable village on the Djursland peninsula, Troldtekt ceilings ensure good acoustics for the guests enjoying the exclusively vegetarian dishes. Wood is a key ingredient in Troldtekt acoustic panels, and harmonises well with the other natural elements at the restaurant.
